Welcome to FORES!

We are so excited you've joined the Mustang Family! Whether your child is starting kindergarten, you're joining us mid-year, or you're new to FORES for any reason, we're so glad you're here.

This page was created especially for new families. We asked parents who were new to FORES what they wished they had known when they first started, and we used their suggestions to put together this helpful guide.

We hope it answers some of your questions and helps you feel right at home. Welcome to the Mustang Family! 💙💚

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I Join the PTO?

Absolutely! Joining the PTO does not mean you're committing to volunteer or attend meetings. Membership is simply a great way to support our school and the programs, events, and experiences that benefit our students.

The FORES PTO offers several membership levels, each with its own perks. Visit the PTO Membership page to learn more and see additional membership FAQs.

How Can I Get Involved with the PTO?

We know joining a new school community can feel intimidating—but don't worry! Our PTO Board and volunteers work hard to make everyone feel welcome.

There are lots of ways to get involved:

• Join a PTO committee.
• Volunteer at one of our many events throughout the year.
• Help with a one-time project.
• Volunteer as often—or as little—as your schedule allows.

No matter how much time you have, we'd love to have you!

How Do I Stay Informed About PTO Events?

We do our best to keep families informed throughout the year through several channels:

• The FORES PTO Website
• Facebook & Instagram
• Monthly PTO calendars
• Weekly PTO updates
• The Principal's Friday newsletter, The Mustang Corral
• Our private PTO GroupMe for FORES families

Need access to the GroupMe? Reach out through Facebook or email us at communication@forespto.com.

What Are the PTO's Biggest Events?

The PTO hosts events throughout the school year, but our two largest fundraisers are:

I Love My School (ILMS) Parties – Fall
Families host themed parties, and ticket sales benefit the PTO.

Cowboy Breakfast (CBB) – Spring
Our biggest event of the year! It includes a family carnival, silent auction, games, food, and fun for the entire family.

What Are Spirit Sticks?

Spirit Sticks are collectible silicone or fabric keychains that students can purchase during lunch.

• Sold the first Thursday of each month during lunch
• Cost $1 each (cash only)
• Students choose their favorite designs

Spirit Stick sales help support the PTO.

How Can I Celebrate My Child's Birthday?

The PTO offers several fun ways to celebrate!

--Birthday Gram

A personalized birthday message from you is delivered to your child through their teacher along with a birthday Spirit Stick.

--Facebook Birthday Shout-Out

Your child's first name and last initial are featured on the PTO Facebook page with a birthday graphic.

--Birthday Marquee

Celebrate your child with their name displayed on the digital marquee at the school entrances.

All birthday items can be purchased through Mustang Market on the PTO website.  Many families also choose to send cookies or donuts to celebrate in the classroom.

Can I Have Lunch with My Child?

Yes! Simply check in at the front office, and you can enjoy lunch with your child in the designated visitor seating area in the cafeteria.

I Own a Business. Can I Support the PTO?

Absolutely! Our sponsors play a huge role in making PTO programs and events possible. We offer several sponsorship levels that provide recognition for your business while supporting the FORES community.

Visit our Sponsors page to learn more.

What Are ILMS Parties?

"I Love My School" (ILMS) Parties are themed parties hosted by FORES families each fall.  Families purchase tickets to attend, and all proceeds support the PTO. They're one of our biggest fundraisers—and one of the most anticipated traditions of the year!

What Is Cowboy Breakfast?

Cowboy Breakfast (CBB) is our annual spring carnival and silent auction.

Highlights include:

• Carnival games and activities
• Silent auction
• Class auction baskets
• Food and family fun

Donations from local businesses, community members, and FORES families help make this event a success.

What Does "Pre-Check" Mean?

Many PTO events require guests to complete an online Pre-Check form before arriving. This allows the front office to print visitor badges ahead of time, making check-in much faster and helping events run smoothly.

What Are Love Grams and Boo Grams?

Throughout the year, students can purchase seasonal Grams (such as Love Grams and Boo Grams) for classmates and friends. Each Gram includes a festive message and a themed Spirit Stick. They are available through the PTO website during designated sales and help raise funds for the PTO.

What Events Can I Look Forward To?

The PTO hosts fun events throughout the year, including:

  • Book Fair

  • Bingo Night

  • Veterans Day Breakfast

  • Muffins with Moms

  • Donuts with Dads

  • Grandparents Day Lunch

  • Bike Rodeo

  • Cowboy Breakfast

  • Spirit Nights

  • Teacher Appreciation Week

Can I Volunteer at PTO Events?

Yes—please do!

The FORES PTO is 100% volunteer-run, and we couldn't do what we do without our amazing volunteers.

Please note: All volunteers and campus visitors must complete the annual Boerne ISD background check before volunteering on campus.

What Do Room Parents Do?

Room Parents help support teachers throughout the year by:

• Coordinating classroom volunteers
• Helping organize holiday parties
• Coordinating classroom auction baskets for Cowboy Breakfast
• Organizing teacher birthday and appreciation gifts
• Sharing important information between the PTO and classroom families

How Can I Help Recognize Faculty & Staff?

At the beginning of each school year, families have the opportunity to Adopt a Staff Member. This program helps recognize many of the incredible faculty and staff members who work behind the scenes every day.

(Classroom teachers are not included since they typically receive plenty of appreciation from their students and families throughout the year.)

What Are Faculty Favorites?

Each year, faculty and staff complete a Favorite Things survey.  Families can view these lists to learn about their favorite snacks, drinks, restaurants, hobbies, and more—making birthdays, holidays, Teacher Appreciation Week, and Adopt-a-Staff gifts easy and personal.
