Whether your child is in kinder, you came in half-way through the year, or whether your child is starting half-way through their elementary career, this page was created for YOU! We asked new families what they wish they knew before the started FORES, and this is what they said!
Should I join PTO?
-Yes! Joining does not mean you have to do anything at all. It essentially is a donation to the PTO.
-The PTO has varying levels of membership that have different perks.
-Read more PTO FAQs on the PTO Membership Page located here.
How can I get involved with the PTO? Where do I start?
-We know getting involved can be nerve-racking! Please know that the PTO board members and volunteers do our best to make everyone feel welcomed!! You can start by joining a PTO committee! You can also also volunteer throughout the year for various events -- all PTO events require extra sets of hands. We need your help!
How do I keep track of all the PTO events?
-The PTO does our best to keep everyone enlightened regarding our events.
-Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and check our website regularly.
-We will send out weekly updates, monthly calendars, and post information regularly.
-There is also a PTO GroupMe that is a private group for FORES families. Here you can ask questions and discuss with other parents.
-Need access to the GroupMe? Reach out to the PTO through our Facebook page or email us at communication@FORESPTO.com

What are the PTO's biggest events of the year?
-The PTO puts on events throughout the year, ALL the time! However, there are two major fundraisers we do: one in the fall and one in the spring. The fall fundraiser is selling tickets to the "I Love My School" Parties (ILMS Parties). In the spring we have our huge carnival and silent auction called "Cowboy Breakfast."
What are Spirit Sticks? What do you mean they are being sold?
-Spirit Sticks are cute little key chains your child can purchase during lunch once a month.
-They are sold at lunch for $1 (cash).
-They are either made of silicone or fabric.
-Kids can choose which spirit sticks they want when they go shopping.
-Spirit Sticks are sold the first Thursday of each month during lunch.
-Spirit Sticks are a form of PTO fundraising.
How can I celebrate my child's birthday?
-The PTO offers three ways to honor your kiddo in a special way: a Birthday Gram, a Facebook Shoutout, or a Birthday Marquee Shoutout.
-A Birthday Gram is a piece of paper with a special message from you, the parents, that is delivered to your child via his or her teacher on the birthday. It is delivered with a birthday Spirit Stick.
-A Facebook Shoutout will say "Happy Birthday CHILD'S NAME" with a cute graphic and be posted on Facebook. The child's last name will not be included (only the first initial of last name).
-A Birthday Marquee Shoutout out will put your child's name on the digital marquee signs at the entrances to FORES! This is a great photo opp!
-All of these can be purchased on the PTO website under "Mustang Market."
-Parents often send in cookies or donuts during children's birthdays as well.
-These birthday purchases is a form of PTO fundraising.
Can I each lunch with my child?
-Yes! You must sign in at the front office and then you can have lunch with your child, either outside or inside, depending on the day!
I have a business - can I support the PTO with it?
-Oh, ABSOLUTELY! Sponsors play a critical role in the success of our organization. There are multiple levels of sponsorships! Being a sponsor is a great way to earn recognition for your business and spread awareness as well, all while supporting our FORES community! Click here to learn more about Sponsorship!
How can I know about all the events going on?
-The PTO uses three main channels of communicating information: the PTO Website, the GroupMe (for PTO members), and Facebook/Instagram.
-The PTO will send out monthly calendars each month.
-The FORES Principal will also send out PTO information in her Friday newsletter, the Mustang Corral.
What are these "ILMS Parties"?
-In the fall, various families will sign-up to host themed parties. These parties are called "I Love My School" Parties.
-Tickets are sold for these parties.
-All ticket sales go directly to the PTO.
-This is a huge fundraiser!
What is Cowboy Breakfast?
-Cowboy Breakfast, also known as CBB, is the PTO's big Spring Fundraiser. It is essentially a spring carnival and silent auction.
-Each class puts together an auction basket.
-Donations from the local businesses, community members, or FORES families are a vital part of the silent auction.
-It is fun for the whole family.
What does it mean to "pre-check" for events ?
-Whenever the PTO has an event, parents must "pre-check." This requires filling out an online form that allows the front desk staff to have each person's name tag printed out prior to entry.
-This makes the check-in process go smoothly and makes the events much less chaotic!
What are Love Grams? What are Boo Grams?
-Depending on the holiday, these "Grams" are little pieces of paper with an attached Spirit Stick. These can be purchased for entire classes or for your child's friends in his/her class, or in other class.
-They are purchased on the PTO website or with cash.
-This is a form of PTO fundraising.
What kind of events can I look forward to throughout the year?
-The PTO hosts multiple events throughout the year, including: Book Fair Bingo Night, Veteran's Day event, Muffins with Mom, Donuts with Dad, Grandparents' Day, Bike Rodeo, Cowboy Breakfast, and more.
Can I help out with PTO Events?
-Yes, PLEASE! The PTO relies 100% on volunteers. We love any help we can get to make each event and each committee run smoothly! All volunteers and visitors must complete the background check through Boerne ISD to be allowed on campus.
What do the Room Parents do?
-Room parents will often decorate classroom doors monthly, or find volunteers to decorate the doors (it depends on grade levels).
-Room parents help plan the Holiday Party in December.
-Room parents either coordinate the classroom basket donations for Cowboy Breakfast, or they find a basket representative to handle the task.
-Room parents coordinate teacher gifts for birthdays, Christmas, and the end of the year or Teacher Appreciation Week.
-Room parents will often be form of communication between the PTO and classroom parents.
How can I help honor faculty members?
-At the beginning of each year, FORES families can "adopt" a faculty member.-This allows faculty members to feel extra appreciated throughout the year.-Classroom teachers are not adopted since they often receive plenty of love throughout the year and during holidays already!
Faculty Favorite Things?
-At the beginning of each school year, all faculty members will fill out a "Favorite Things" form! This helps families to know all the things our faculty members love. It can be very helpful for adopting staff members, providing gifts, etc.
