Frequently Asked Questions
WHY JOIN PTO?

The FORES Parent Teacher Organization is an essential part of your child’s school. FORES PTO works very hard behind the scenes in order to raise money to fund materials, programs and services that are not covered in the school district's budget. 100% of your money stays at the school! Most importantly, joining the PTO is a lot more than paying a membership fee; it is a way to be a part of FORES' amazing parent and teacher team. It is an effective way to support your child in their learning community. Our goal is for 100% of our families to join!

DO I HAVE TO ATTEND MEETINGS?
Absolutely not! While we encourage all members to attend our PTO meetings throughout the year, they are not required. Attending in the meeting allows you to vote on issues pertaining to the business of the PTO.

DO I HAVE TO VOLUNTEER?
NOPE! We LOVE our volunteers but we understand that not everyone is able or willing.
WHAT ARE THE MEMBERSHIP LEVELS AND FEES?
There are 5 membership levels that range from $10 (for staff) and for families $35 - $300. There are different incentives for each membership level. Please visit our Membership Levels page for details!
WHERE DOES ALL THE MONEY GO?
Your PTO membership fees and monies raised through purchasing Spirit Wear, Spirit sticks, fundraisers and donations all go towards various teacher grants, curriculum supplements, campus improvement projects, student field trips, fall fitness run (Color Run, Glow Run), Cowboy Breakfast Carnival, ILMS shirts for all students and staffs, monthly teacher appreciation lunches and goodies, programs such as Veteran's Day Program, Bike Rodeo, Grandparents Day, Donuts with Dads, Muffins with Moms, and much more. Breakdown of dollars received and spent will be reviewed in the general PTO membership meetings and our monthly PTO Newsletter.

WHAT FUNDRAISERS DOES THE PTO ORGANIZE?
PTO organizes 2 fundraisers each school year. In the fall is “I Love My School” fundraiser (ILMS for short). ILMS is jam packed with lots of fun! It spans about 2 weeks - there is a Pep Rally for the students, a parent mixer in the evening, tickets to be purchased for parties and student experiences, and concludes with a themed fun run, foam party, food trucks, and sliming Principal Shults! These parties and student experiences are hosted, funded, and organized by the parents! It's a great way to get to know other families at FORES! There are prizes for classrooms with the most participation or most monies raised. There is a Party Bus Pizza Party with the Principal for students who raise over a certain amount.
In the spring, is "Cowboy Breakfast Carnival & Silent Auction" or CBB for short (why is it CBB? who knows... it should be CBCSA, but I guess CBB sounds better).CBB is a one day event where we auction of themed gift baskets put together by each classroom or the local business sponsors. We depend on our FORES families to help organize and put together the themed gift basket prior to the fundraiser. At CBB we have food trucks, various interactive game stations, photo booths, cowboy line dancing, lasso lessons, a petting zoo, raffle prizes, and more! This event is open to the whole community! Free for adults, but kids 3-17 require a wristband to participate in the games and rides.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE ILMS PARTIES, HOW DOES THIS WORK?

Parents sign up to host a party - any party, theme, you decide how many people, the location, if it's adults only, families, or kids only, or a specific grade level. You can team up with other parents and co-host the parties together. When you sign up to host a party, understand that you and your co-hosts, if any, are responsible for the cost of putting the party together and executing it. The PTO will sell "tickets" to your party during the 2 week fundraiser. The number of tickets PTO can sell for each party is determined by the host when they sign up to host a party. For example, I want to host a bowling party for 3rd graders only, and I only want 15 kids - those parameters will be honored and the tickets should only be purchased by the parents of 3rd graders to attend the party.
The more parties families host, the more money the PTO can raise by selling admission tickets to the parties. These parties are a great way to meet other FORES families and creating lasting friendships!
